Dr. Mary Brantl is an 艺术 Historian teaching across the discipline as well as serving as an informal advisor to students pursuing the 艺术历史 minor or simply 艺术历史 minded. Her interdisciplinary approach informs both her diverse course offerings and the range of her research pursuits.
Dr. Brantl is an 艺术 Historian focused on Modern 艺术 and, 具体地说, mid-century developments in photography. Her approach is contextual and interdisciplinary—no surprise given her background in world religions, 工作室艺术, and collectors and the early modern art market. She continues to build the niche for 艺术历史 at St. 爱德华的 (with courses ranging from Issues in Conservation to 艺术 & Pilgrimage) while pursuing her own current studies on immigrant photographers. She matches a serious commitment to service on campus to such off-campus volunteer efforts as teaching English as a Second Language.
